Long way to go.

Couch to 5K: Week 1 Workout 1

So I just completed my first workout of this second attempt at C25K and man do I have a long way to go. I had made some progress last summer with learning to run but now I am starting over. I let my frustrations get the better of me last year and lead to me giving up and making excuses of why I was just going to do it later.

Now it's later and I am angry with where I am compared to where I was when I stopped. I know it will get better but it is frustrating right now. I need to find my "groove" again, my natural gait. The "shuffle" that is so often recommended feels odd and makes my arches hurt. Even though it requires more energy I believe I am just going to go with a full gait. It just feels better. My legs are going to have to get used to all of this as well as my feet but one huge thing I know I need to do is get the right pair of running shoes. I'm going down to a locally owned running store soon to have a gait analysis done and get their recommendations for shoes. I know that it will help my running a lot. I'm tired of researching and guessing what shoes I should wear and then still experiencing pain or just buying whatever is on sale. I know the right shoes can make all the difference, and I am determined to do things right this time.

I wasn't able to run all of the segments thanks to a wicked cramp in the arch of my foot but I did run most of them.

I'll get there, it's just going to take me a while.
