Maybe it's a train...

So it's been a little while and nothing has really changed. I am still having issues with my knee all the time. I know that part of it stems from an issue with my back so I am FINALLY getting to the chiropractor to try to get it fixed. I went in for the x-rays and consultation near the end of last month. I was supposed to go in again right after we returned from Barbados but thanks to damage from Hurricane Matthew, they had no power for a few days and it had to be rescheduled to this week. I saw him on Tuesday and had a "test adjustment" after seeing my x-rays. My back is f*ed up basically.

My lower back has too deep of a curve because my neck as zero curve(and it should). Also, my atlas(the very top vertebrae) is out of whack. That is affecting everything else and causing problems. He is optimistic that we can change things but it isn't just a small thing. Most of the issues probably occurred when I was in a pretty serious car accident when I was 16 but some of the stuff in my neck may also come from a fall from a horse I had when I was 11 or 12.

Today I go in to talk with him about the big picture and to find out what plan he has for me. I'm hopeful that this will slowly start to help me get back out there. I think I am going to start taking more advantage of my Y membership and focus on the pool since that will be low impact and can even help decompress the spine some. I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I probably won't be able to do space coast(even though the time limit would allow me to walk it) and that Star Wars Light Side is also not really possible or smart. I hate that I will lose my legacy status at that race but I knew it would happen eventually. I'm still planning to head out to DL and hopefully Mac will be able to run it (I can transfer to him since I bought through my running club not direct from RunDisney) but it will be weird not running.

I want to do this right. I want to get better and heal and I also want to get healthier too. It's going to be a long road but I think I'm ready. I hope so anyway. (I know I'm ready to stop being in pain)
